Who uses the service?
Both young and older people living in the areas of East Northamptonshire listed below. Children are welcome as long as an adult accompanies them.

Areas covered: Aldwincle, Brigstock, Clopton, Denford, Great Addington, Islip, Little Addington, Lowick, Ringstead, Sawtry (Huntingdonshire), Slipton, Sudborough, Thrapston, Titchmarsh, Thorpe Waterville, Twywell, Woodford

How do you use the service?
Simply ring us as soon as you know that you have a medical appointment. The more notice you give us, the more likely we are to be able to get you a driver. Provide us with the details of when and where you need to go and we will try our best to get you a driver.

How far can you go?
You choose! We travel anywhere, within reason. Examples of common destinations are Kettering or Leicester Hospitals but we have gone as far as Oxford. In practice however, most journeys are very local.

How can you join the scheme?
It costs £15.00 per year to join, and this allows you to use the Ring and Ride service. Payment can be made to Nene & Ouse Community Transport or the car driver and can be cash or cheque.

How much does it cost?
Drivers receive 40p for each mile travelled from their home (minimum £4.00 up to 5 miles). In most cases the passenger pays the driver direct but sometimes payment can be arranged via Nene & Ouse Community Transport.

Who will drive you?
Local people willing to use their own cars and give up their free time to help the community. All Volunteer Drivers are CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked and fully covered by our Insurance.

How long will the driver wait for you?
For journeys to the hospital we ask our drivers to wait for 2 hours and 1 hour for anywhere else. If the wait is any longer than this the driver has the option of leaving and returning later, consequently charging you for 2 journeys.
